What is Sales Sense?

Welcome to my site.

Sales sense is the ability to ‘read the room’ and adjust your style quickly to meet the client’s needs. In modern-speak, the word is ‘pivot’ but since we’re not talking basketball, I believe the more accurate definition is reactive intuition.

I love the business of sales. My sales business is about listening, being curious, creative, flexible and thoughtful in my response and follow-up. It’s about weathering rejection, the dreaded ‘crickets’ after what you thought was a promising sales call. It’s not for the faint-of-heart, but it’s also exciting, unpredictable and super rewarding.

Much has been written about the ‘pitch’ and how to sound smart in meetings. (Click link for one of my favorite satires on thisĀ  https://thecooperreview.com/10-tricks-appear-smart-meetings/ ). But great salespeople make their clients look smart and help them see possibilities instead of roadblocks. They’re not pleasers but are instead highly competent providers who keep the spotlight on their client. They win when their client wins.

They have sales sense.
